One of the things I am most looking forward to this summer is the outdoor cinema we are going to set up for our Annual Garden Party. (NB This makes our garden sound huge but it is actually your standard {tiny} London garden. It just so happens that in the summer our plants are in full bloom and it’s the nicest time to show it off!) We have been having this party for years and it coincides with my partner’s birthday so we thought this year we would make it extra special by setting up an outdoor cinema to watch late into the evening.

Top tip: Never lose your tweezers again!

This is a very simple top tip that I wish I had done years ago. I don’t know if you’re like me and you are constantly misplacing your tweezers, whether they’re in the dark depths of your bathroom cabinet or in the bottom of your make-up bag hiding in between the multiple folds of the fabric lining.

Top Tip: Re-using your paint tray

Happy new year all! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your families and an even more marvellous New Year.

We were lucky enough to be in Sydney, Australia for new years eve this time and we sat atop Observatory Hill to watch the fireworks! I hadn’t seen them with my own eyes for years and they certainly didn’t disappoint. They were just magical. Many, many ‘Bringing the Outside In‘ posts will be put up shortly on my blog about our trip to Sydney.

Anyway, this is a quick top tip to help you while you re-decorate this year. It is a real time saver after you have painted a room or a piece of furniture.

All you have to do is cover your paint tray in foil before you pour your paint in. You can then throw the foil away afterward. No need to wash up the tray!

Top tip: Picture frame templates

This weeks top tip is inspired by my bedroom wall.  A couple of years ago I attempted to create a lovely collage-style wall with multiple framed pictures, but I failed miserably when I drilled holes in the wrong positions and made a right mess of our new plaster work.

Just find some paper, draw a line around your picture frame to create a template, then cut it out and tape it onto the wall where you would like to hang it. When you have made a configuration that you are happy with, then you can drill those holes! No more unnecessary damage to your walls.
