Christmas Snug

Earlier this year you might recall that we had a nightmare with building our garden studio. First of all we had an awful cowboy builder leave us in a building site but then we had an awesome building firm (GWG Construction) save our project by coming in and dismantling the entire building and starting again. I would absolutely recommend them to anybody! We are so, so happy with the outcome and we hope to make it our home office next year.

In the meantime it has been Arthur’s playroom and we decided to turn it into a Christmas Snug for the festive season. It’s very simple but we thought it might help us get into the festive spirit!

We hung festoon lights and icicle lights form Lights4Fun on the outside and decorated the inside a bit like a sitting room. (One of the reasons we did this is because our actual sitting room inside out house is so small that a Christmas tree would have taken over the whole room so we decided to replicate our sitting room outside!)

We hung vintage ice skates on the door handle along with a small wreath from Lidl. I am obsessed with these beautiful star lights from Lights4Fun so I have them all over the studio.

I hid the battery packs for the stars behind Christmas cards.

You probably think our tree looks quite bare and that’s because it is! I never wanted to go to a shop and buy a whole set of baubles. Kristina and I collect one bauble a year so that in the future we will have a tree full of different decorations that mean something to us and tell a story. So in the meantime we will have a fairly empty (but pretty) tree.

I have used a wall hanging from Surface View on one wall so the room doesn’t feel too cold and white. It’s a scandinavian picture of woodland with snow capped trees. I love it!

The personalised Santa sack is from Harrow and Green– I think they are just gorgeous. The nutcracker was from Illums Bolighus about 6 years ago- it’s still one of my favourite decorations that we own.

The bauble (above) was made for Arthur last year by Blossom and Bear at Notonthehighstreet and the fish is from Liberty London this year.

We plan to spend Christmas morning in the snug eating pancakes and opening presents (no doubt Arthur will enjoy playing with the ribbon and paper more than the gifts!)

Merry Christmas to all of you, and your friends and families too. xx
