Raven mad..

Meet Gustav and Jack. Two strong names for two strong Ravens! These beautiful cardboard birds are new from ibride, the fantastical french company that are famous for melamine trays featuring paintings of heads of rabbits and ducks on bodies of dukes and duchesses. Step 1: Buy one (or six) from Aram. Step 2: pop out the pieces from the flat pack box and assemble them all on your own! There is nothing sinister about keeping a couple of life-size ravens in your bedroom, right?

Gustav and Jack, £95 each, by Benoit and Rachel Convers for ibride at Aram (UK) or Space Furniture (Australia)

Who thought you could revolutionise the curtain? Well, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have done just that. Ready Made Curtain is a new simple hanging that is collaboration between the brothers and Kvadrat.

The hanging cord is a replacement for the curtain pole and has a winding mechanism to fit any window. Add wall fixings, pegs and a selection of Kvadrat textiles and you have a complete kit to dress your window. Voila!

Marks and Spencer has a number of simple, smooth, clean and beautifully designed pieces in their new AW13 collection. The dip-dye wine glasses and this valet stand in that pale timber that I just love, are only a few examples of what they will have on offer. Not to mention the beautiful styling and photography in these pics!

Bringing the outside in: Carmarthenshire

OutsideIn Carthenshire

I did an upholstery course at The Old Piggery in Wales a couple of years ago. This photo was taken on the edge of the farm in Carmarthenshire where all you could see was green, green, green (that’s when it had stopped raining long enough to see more than 6ft in front of you…). To translate this landscape into your home, the above mix of soft timbers and textured surfaces will help you on your way.

1. Paper texture clock, approx £28, Motatoe. 2. Grass vase, from £32, Normann Copenhagen at Bodie and Fou. 3. Colourblocked cutting board, £99, Anthropologie. 4. Green arrow rug, £35, Urban Outfitters. 5. Floor lamp, £550, East London Furniture. Photo credit: Lucy Gough
